“The horses will spend the winter without shelter”, a Landes shelter launches a fundraiser after the ravages of storm Kirk

It is certainly in the rain, the wind and the cold that the eight horses at the shelter in Grenade-sur-l'Adour (Landes) will spend the winter. In the Landes, as in many departments of , storm Kirk wreaked widespread havoc. The shelter, which also welcomes goats, goats and rodents, is unable to pay €1,800 in repairs.

A blanket as your only shelter

The horses at the Aventure refuge do not have an easy life in Grenade-sur-l'Adour. Last January, they left the Basque Country and followed the managers of the refuge, towards the Landes. “It wasn’t easy for them. It took them a long time to acclimate to the department and their new home. But now their house no longer existssaid sadly the president of the Aventure refuge, Estelle Almy. Winter could be very complicated for these horses because “There is no other place for them to shelter in the shelter. There is not even a tree”smiled Estelle nervously.

The president of the Adventure shelter discovered the damage from Storm Kirk that same evening.

“The prize pool is our only solution”

After discovering this major damage, Estelle's first instinct was to contact her insurance. “They didn't want to know anything! They don't want us to be compensated.” she insists. “This move cost us a lot of money. We received state subsidies of several tens of thousands of euros to have this infrastructure. We cannot do without external help today”termine Estelle Almy. The prize pool goal is set at €1,800which would make it possible to purchase a new metal frame to cover the reconstructed enclosures.
