Placed in preventive detention on August 14 for attempted murder of her mother the day before, Dalila N., a young woman of 32, was presented Thursday before the Brussels criminal court.
Dalila took action on August 13 at the family home in Laeken, Belgium, after a nightmare in which she saw herself suffocating her mother. This is how after waking up, the thirty-year-old joined her mother who was sleeping in her bed and tried to suffocate her with a pillow. Her little sister, who shared the bed with their mother, managed to avoid the worst. Determined to see her disastrous project through to the end, Dalila returns to the kitchen and grabs a butter knife. But her sister manages to disarm her, relays The Last Hour.

After her interrogation at the police station, the young woman was presented to the investigating judge who ordered her placement in preventive detention. The thirty-year-old was visibly sane during these exchanges. This is evidenced by her response to the judge’s question who asked her if she knows the reasons for her arrest: “Yes, because I tried to kill my mother.” And added: “I was aware of what I was doing.”
