Fardoit charcuterie is the last charcuterie in Moulins-la-Marche (Orne). Installed on 1is April 1982, more than 42 years ago, there were three butchers and three charcutiers. Jean and Yolande Fardoit would like to finally enjoy a deserved retirement and would like to sell their business.

We would prefer that it is a butcher or charcutier who takes over, but if another business is interested, we are open to anything

“Working on weekends gets cold! »

For almost three years, Jean and Yolande Fardoit have tried every means possible to sell their business. “We put it on sale in agencies, via LeBonCoin, by the Chambre des Métiers and SOS Villages. We have had a few visits, but as soon as we talk about opening on weekends, about making most of our products in-house, that puts a damper on potential buyers,” comment the artisans.

At 62 and 65 years oldYolande and Jean Fardoit would like to be able to enjoy their retirement and they have decided to take it easy.

“We stopped our catering activity during Covid and we also stopped competitions. This year, we are not going to provide the end-of-year celebrations, because we will close from December 23, 2024 to January 16, 2025.”

We will reopen on January 17 because we will continue our activity for a few more months in the hope that a buyer will come forward. But in 2025, for lack of a buyer, we will stop our activity and there, we fear that it will be the death of the village

A food business that disappears means a guaranteed flight of customers to the outside world and local businesses are subject to this type of closure. Moulins-la-Marche still has two bakersd’a mini marketd’a floristd’a tobacco pressd’a PMU bard’a hotel-restaurantof two restaurantsbut the closure of a delicatessen is a big loss for a village of 700 habitants.

Our business is doing well. Our turnover has not decreased even though we are only open at the end of the week. We have a good local clientele, from second homes, passing through the motorhome area and when we close for holidays, neighboring businesses suffer from our closure and see fewer people

When it reopens on January 17, 2025, the Fardoit delicatessen will reduce its opening days and the shop will be open Friday and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. .
