A search carried out by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) north of Saguenay took a particular turn when the police discovered an explosive device on the scene on Thursday.

In the early morning, a police unit went to a home on rue des Pins, in Saint-Ambroise, to carry out a drug seizure operation.

While searching the area, members of the police came face to face with an explosive device. The spokesperson for the SQ, Marythé Bolduc, however, did not want to reveal the nature of the object.

“Explosive technicians were mobilized, as was a dog handler to check if there were any others. The experts analyzed the object and then disposed of it,” she explains, adding that no one was injured.

Drugs and ammunition

In addition to the device, the Security also confiscated a quantity of narcotics and ammunition of all kinds.

The owner of the house, a man in his 30s, was taken to the police station and met with investigators. He was subsequently released pending further legal proceedings.

“Charges could be filed against him, including possession of explosives,” concludes Marythé Bolduc.
