The parking lot at the Henri Nogues stadium in Saint-Domineuc (Ille-et-Vilaine) will soon be available. An innovative redevelopment in the water management.

Started in early summer 2024, the project consists of work to dewaterproof and renature the parking lot. Green and grassy areas, adjoining the sports complex and the football changing rooms, will be created.

An infiltrative parking lot covering, the disconnection of gutters and vegetated infiltration areas have been planned. A convivial space, with a picnic table and tree plantings, will provide a shaded area to break up heat islands.

Why this choice?

“We chose such a parking lot in order to offer greener development and less mineral to the public. The idea is that it is pleasant for everyone,” underlines Isabelle Plainfossé, 4^e deputy mayor, in charge of urban roads, who continues:

This project will reduce heat islands and reduce the waterproofed surface area. The infiltration of rainwater into the ground will be favored. In the event of heavy rain, we will therefore limit the risk of runoff and flooding.

Why infiltrate rainwater from the parking lot rather than discharging it into the network?

“The soil is an excellent reservoir of water. In summer, all the water flowing into rivers comes from groundwater, therefore from the ground. Infiltrating as much rainwater as possible into the soil, in summer as well as in winter, therefore allows the water tables to recharge and, ultimately, to have water in the rivers in summer! », specifies Isabelle Plainfossé.

€61,000 in grants

This development allowed the municipality to benefit from financial aid. Aid from the Green Fund, the Water Agency and police fines was granted to the tune of €61,000, for this work estimated at €150,000.

The car park will offer 26 herringbone spaces, including a PRM space. Traffic will be one way. It will be operational soon.

“Planned for 2023, we had to postpone this work until this year to be able to obtain the Green Fund. » Some adjustments are still to be made in terms of connections and for the installation of vertical signage.
