A young artist who wanted to try sex with a woman was ultimately gang raped by a prominent doctor at Montreal’s Jewish Hospital, she emotionally recounted at the trial of the doctor and his co-accused.

“I will never forget his face in front of me. I didn’t have enough strength, I could just wait for it to pass, for it to be over, I let go when I became aware of what was happening,” testified the alleged victim of Stephan Probst, this Thursday at the palace of justice of Montreal.

Sitting in the courtroom, the 46-year-old doctor and his co-defendant Wendy Devera, 30, listened attentively as the young woman recounted how the two allegedly raped her in the summer of 2020, possibly after drugging her.

This is because at the time, the complainant whose identity is protected by the court wanted to have an intimate experience with a woman. So she downloaded a dating app, where she allegedly met Devera.

“She told me to meet at a friend’s house, I wanted to be sure that there was no ambiguity, I said that I was going there for her and only for her,” mentioned the young female.

” To lose control “

Once she arrived at Probst – a luxurious penthouse in the heart of Old Montreal – the alleged victim said she was served a cocktail. Earlier, she had drunk a beer and taken a drag of cannabis from a vape.

After usual discussions where Probst told her he was a doctor at the Jewish Hospital of Montreal (he was head of the nuclear medicine department), the young woman entered the spa with Probst’s friend.

That’s when his head would have started to spin

“I started to feel weird, like I was losing control of my body and my mind,” she said.

Probst allegedly went to join the two women, and then attempted sexual contact.

“He leaned toward me like he thought he was irresistible,” she said. I rejected him immediately, telling him I wasn’t interested. »

No strength to leave

It was there that she tried to leave, but she did not have the strength, describing symptoms similar to date rape drugs. Devera allegedly convinced her to stay, in order to have a sexual relationship between two women.

Except that during the act, Probst allegedly arrived and raped the complainant.

“Something happened that I didn’t want,” she said, visibly shaken. Wendy [Devera] had his hands on my shoulder so I wouldn’t move. »

A complaint was ultimately filed with the police. And after investigation, both Probst and Devera were accused of group sexual assault. They pleaded not guilty, so the trial is currently taking place before Judge Suzanne Costom of the Court of Quebec.

The complainant’s testimony continues this afternoon. According to our information, Probst is no longer employed by the Jewish Hospital of Montreal.
