Thursday, November 7, Jérôme Bonet, prefect of Gard, inaugurated the new mobile territorial brigade of the Petite Camargue – Costières national gendarmerie in the Aimargues arenas.
This symbolic inaugural act, surrounded by two Camargue horses, elected officials, as well as soldiers from the Vauvert and Nîmes companies, took place in the presence of the command.
This brigade is the first of three mobile territorial brigades created in Gard, following the announcement by Emmanuel Macron, President of the Republic, who announced in 2022 the creation of 238 new gendarmerie brigades on the national territory.
It embodies the State's response to adapt to the needs of the population, particularly in rural and peri-urban areas.
This unit, made up of 6 gendarmes and equipped with suitable resources (bicycles and light vehicles), allows a reactive and visible presence in the territory, meeting citizens' expectations in terms of listening, dialogue and local security.
