Firefighters from the Gard department intervened to help a woman give birth in an emergency at the side of the road in the middle of the night.
The story ends well. Wednesday, November 6, while the evening was well advanced, the firefighters of Salles-du-Gardon, a town located in the north of the Gard department, were called for a somewhat special intervention.
At 10:35 p.m., the alert was raised: a 31-year-old woman was about to give birth, emergency services reported on “
After taking care of her, the emergency services have a mission: to arrive as quickly as possible at the Alès maternity ward. But “after a few minutes of transport towards the hospital, the ambulance had to stop and the crew had to assist the mother with the delivery of her newborn”, detail the Gard firefighters on X, on the side of the road, in the middle of the night.
“The mother and the little boy are in good health”
A SAMU team was sent as reinforcement and according to its assessment, “the mother and the little boy are in good health and were transported to the Alès CH for in-depth check,” concluded the report posted by the emergency services.
The story of this young mother is not rare. Last October, a 35-year-old woman gave birth on the emergency lane of the A13 motorway in Île-de-France, where she was stuck in traffic. A month earlier, another had given birth to a baby at her daughter's school in Rennes, in Ille-et-Vilaine.
