The inhabitants of (Maine-et-) are targeted by a scam which is currently rampant on Facebook. This claims that the municipality has put in place a card allowing free use of public transport, reports West Wednesday November 6, 2024.

A fraudulent link

The scam is spread by a fake account called “Abonnement aux transports publics d’Angers”. Dated October 22, the publication in question makes it appear that “the city administration invites you to join an initiative to increase mobility and promote public transport »relay our colleagues. « Get one of 500 smart cards offering 6 months of unlimited travel in the city for just €2.35 »it is notably written.

The ad links to a fraudulent site, which is why “It is imperative that you do not click on any link on this page”urges the town hall of Angers in a press release shared by West France. “We encourage everyone to report this scam to the social network”adds the City, specifying that the same scam has already affected other cities in France. Residents are therefore called to be extremely vigilant.
