New macabre discovery in the Channel. This Tuesday, the CROSS Gris-Nez services were informed by a ferry crossing the Channel that a floating body had been seen at sea, off the coast of Calais. A search operation is then carried out by the services of the maritime prefecture. The patrolman Cormorant of the French Navy was deployed on site and “ engages the boat of the maritime and port security platoon (PSMP) ESMP03 of the Calais maritime gendarmerie to carry out a search in the area » specifies the maritime prefecture.
An open investigation
But unlike last Friday's operation, the search was tragically successful. Two remains will be found by the emergency services at the beginning of the afternoon. The sailors repatriated the bodies to the port of Calais. “The bodies were then taken care of by the maritime gendarmerie and an investigation was opened by the Boulogne-sur-Mer public prosecutor’s office », Underlines the maritime prefecture.
Furthermore, during the night from Monday to Tuesday, the CROSS came to the aid of a boat in difficulty off the coast of Audresselles. The 51 people rescued were dropped off at the dock in Boulogne-sur-Mer.
