Unique in the Doubs since its creation in 2014, the local “We Too” delegation in Pontarlier is not giving up. Managed by and for people with intellectual disabilities, the latter is organizing, on November 9 and 10, its 7th Taste, Flavors and Crafts Fair for the benefit of the Pontissalian branch.
“The association wants to change the laws concerning people with disabilities,” says Alain Trébos, local delegate of “Nous aussi”. Working on accessibility with municipalities, writing documents that are easy to read and understand (FALC), working in schools… these are the projects on which the members of “Nous aussi” are working, in collaboration with the ministry responsible for people. in a situation of disability.
Highlight the difficulties linked to the right to vote
Long-term work while accessibility remains a black spot in France for disabled people. While the right to vote of an adult benefiting from a guardianship measure has been effective again since 2019, it remains difficult to access for several reasons. “Today, beyond the right to vote, it can be difficult for a person with a disability to access the polling station, or to understand certain documents,” explains Françoise Bessant, “support” person within the association. The members of “We Too” are still working to highlight these difficulties.

The question of Allowance for disabled adults
Among the association's future projects? Ensure that the Allowance for Disabled Adults (AAH) is paid after retirement age. A subject already raised by the delegation in our columns in 2022. During a trip, the team notably delivered a letter by hand to Sophie Cluzel, former Secretary of State for People with Disabilities. “We had no response,” regrets the support of the association. A letter was also sent in 2023, with no return. Proof of a long fight for the defense of people with disabilities.

Sausage, champagne, Comté, or even jewelry, soaps and candles, there will be many exhibitors this weekend in La Cluse-et-Mijoux. “These are local producers, mainly from the sector,” explains Françoise Bessant. The money collected during the event will allow members of the local delegation to finance their travel to general assemblies and congresses. With, they hope, the opportunity to make their voices heard more.
Taste fair Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 November at the village hall of La Cluse-et-Mijoux. Free entry.
