A man, aged 20, received a prison sentence of ten months, seven of which were suspended on probation for two years, BFM Paris Île-de-France learned from a source close to the case.
He was arrested on the night of Tuesday October 29 to Wednesday October 30 in Mantes-la-Ville, in Yvelines, after refusing to comply with a police check.
The events took place around 1:45 a.m., Chemin des Meuniers, when the anti-crime brigade noticed a Peugeot 2008 driving with its front left tire punctured. Initial checks show that this vehicle has been reported stolen since the day before.
Chase
There are two individuals in the car. The police vehicle positioned itself to intercept the car and the crew dismounted. At that moment, the driver accelerates by climbing onto the shoulder, thus refusing the control of the police officers, who are forced to move out of the way so as not to be mowed down.
A chase ensues during which the vehicle makes a turn all the way to rue de Rouen. The driver then suddenly stops the car and flees on foot.
Finally blocked by street furniture at the Merisiers shopping center, he tried to hide by lying down in the grass along a wall in the Plaisances school. Very aggressive, he was subdued using an electric stun gun and arrested, then placed in police custody.
“Smoking a joint”
During the hearing, the man presented himself as innocent. He assures that he was “smoking a joint when the police arrived and hit him several times for no reason”.
He also claims not to understand why he was “tazed” when he was calmly cooperating and swears that he has no longer driven since his driving license suspension.
During the confrontation with the police, the latter maintained their version. The accused remains silent. The stolen car was returned to its owner.
The accused was referred to the Versailles court. He therefore received a prison sentence of 10 months, 7 of which were suspended on probation for two years, accompanied by work obligations and compensation from the civil party. He must appear before the sentence enforcement judge on December 23.
