A “No Tobacco Month” village in Gramat
Like every year, “No Tobacco Month” is back. This collective challenge, based on mutual aid, encourages smokers to stop their tobacco consumption for at least 30 days during the month of November. In addition to the tools available on the official “No Tobacco Month” website, local actions are also being implemented, as close as possible to residents.
For the third consecutive year, as part of the Local Health Contractthe Cauvaldor Community of Communes is joining forces with Promotion Santé Occitanie, with the support of the municipality of Gramat, to offer various events on Friday, November 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., on the Place du Foirail in Gramat. This edition will once again see a strong mobilization of partners, ever more numerous, to provide information on tobacco consumption and smoking cessation, support smokers wishing to quit, and raise awareness among young people about prevention. Throughout the day, fun workshops, individual consultations, targeted information and tools to help quit smoking will be available.
New this year: Departmental Committees for Adapted Sports and Handisport will offer blowgun, disc golf and boccia demonstrations, as well as wheelchair or blind rounds, between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. then from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Jean Dumas village hall. These activities will be an opportunity to promote the practice of sport for all. Indeed, physical activity not only helps improve physical and mental health, but can also be an asset in quitting smoking.
Access to this village is open and free.
This year, the partnership with local players is expanding: the city's two middle schools will allow their 4th and 3rd grade students to participate in the event and learn about the different stands. In addition, several local companies will encourage their employees to go on site in order to benefit from the advice and support possibilities offered by the professionals present.
