Monky! This could be the code name for a secret operation somewhere in Occitania. It's quite the opposite. This is the name of the French start-up which will open at the end of the month of July 2025a new general public space in the southeast sector, of (hears).

Abandoned for almost 3 ansthe former site of the Leclerc 2 supermarket will experience an unexpected revival. In recent times, neighboring car parks have been a popular spot for travelers. They settled there repeatedly . It's now ancient history.

7000m²

Joined by Actu.fr, Pierre-Elie Quirion, communications and marketing director of the Monky firm, details this new XXL projectfor this company created in 2022 .

“We are going to open a grand leisure park on 6000m² approximately, even 7000m² in place of this supermarket. The site will be open 365 days a yearand accessible to the whole family and people with reduced mobility (PRM),” says the thirty-year-old straight away.

Construction already started

“On site, the future site will offer a laser gamea big bowlinggames for children, a relaxation area but also a grand karting indoor
accessible to adolescents and adults alike,” lists the young manager pragmatically.

We hope to open in the summer of 2025 in Carcassonne. It is estimated that 35 to 50 jobs will be filled there in the coming months.

Jobs to be filled soon

But, to operate such a building, you need staff, even a lot of staff. “Our Monky Audois will be open from 11 a.m. to midnight at least so we will surely have 2 or even 3 teams who will work 7 days a week »,says Pierre-Elie Quirion.

Recruitments are therefore to be expected. What the thirty-year-old confirms. “We are going to hire one director, two managers, bartenders and barmaids, servers , versatile team members».

An adapted city

After opening two sites in Agen (Lot-et-Garonne), Laval
(Mayenne ), the group chose Carcassonne (Aude) rather than Nîmes (), (Haute-Garonne) or (Hérault). A thoughtful choice.

“Accessible and medium-sized cities are our target. We had an opportunity in Carcassonne. The city is suitable, the project is feasible so we’re getting started.”

“We don't have no interest to open in cities like Lyon or Toulouse! They already have what we offer on different sites. The group is working on opportunities in reasonably sized cities. We knew about the ex Leclerc of Carcassonne. The site is suitable so we go ahead and we open a Monkyfrom next summer.”

The opening to the public of the Aude site will be preceded by a few weeks by that at Mont-de-Marsan(Lot-et-Garonne). Monky is a company created in 2022 and which claims to be “in full development”, according to its manager.

“The Carcassonne construction site is underway. Development of the site has started. We have other opportunities in Occitania, as in the north of France and elsewhere on which we are currently working,” concludes, enthusiastically, Pierre-Elie Quirion.

Monky Carcassonne. opening planned for July 2025. Site open 7 days a week. Hours: 11 a.m. > 12 a.m. Sunday to Thursday and 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
