Are the inhabitants of Finistère good at getting their driving license? To find out, you have to delve into the results of the driving license exams, published each year by the road safety delegation. It includes in particular the number of candidates for the exams and the pass rate for the tests, broken down by license category.
Highway Code and Motorcycle Code: Finistériens at the top of the basket
Concerning the Highway Code, the general theoretical test, Finistériens are very slightly below the success rate in Brittany, over the last three years (58.1% in 2021; 59.4% in 2022 and 56. 9% in 2023, for the department). A rate however higher by around three points over these same years than the overall rate in France.
For the Motorcycle Code, aspiring motorcyclists from Finistère are doing better than at regional and national level, with a success rate which exceeds 80% in 2021 and 2022, and 76% in 2023.
Driving license exams: can do better
Future Finistère motorists had a success rate of 55.1% in 2023 in the B license tests, the car license (out of 18,374 candidates). This is six points less than the regional rate for that same year (61.1%), but barely one point less than the national rate (55.9%).
For motorcycle license exams (A1 and A2), in circulation, the trend is similar: the success rate for the department is around 85% each year, between 2021 and 2023, but remains below the rate in Brittany and in France, over the same period.
