A 28-year-old cyclist died on Friday in Flourens, near Toulouse. The driver who hit him, while driving his car, was said to have taken drugs.
Died at age 28, during a simple bike ride. Terrible circumstances as often in road accidents which have been numerous since the start of the weekend of November 1st. The investigation opened by the gendarmes of the Toulouse Saint-Michel company on Friday evening after the shock had an unpleasant surprise in store. Shortly after the collision, the driver, a 39-year-old man, mentioned the setting sun which would have dazzled him and prevented him from seeing the cyclist.
Only he would have mainly consumed narcotics. The results of the analyzes should be known quickly. And this was not a first since this man was already convicted six months ago for driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
Already 7 fatal drug-related accidents
At the end of his police custody in the premises of the Balma brigade, this artisan electrician was presented to the public prosecutor's office this Sunday in Toulouse. A judicial investigation was opened for “manslaughter aggravated” by at least one circumstance, in this case drug consumption. The prosecution made requests for placement in detention but the defense lawyers, Messrs Bouchra Rabhi and Guy Debuisson, obtained placement under judicial supervision by the judge of freedoms and detention.
