This Saturday, two dramatic accidents took place in Moselle. On the A4, the victim is a young motorist who lived in Luxembourg, while on the A31, it is a fifty-year-old who died after a terrible pileup.
As reported by the Républicain Lorrain, a first accident took place this Saturday at 3:40 a.m. on the A4 in the Strasbourg – Paris direction and near Varize-Vidoncourt.
A 19-year-old young man living in Diekirch was driving his Luxembourg-registered car when he collided with the rear of a German tanker truck.
The heavy goods vehicle stopped on the hard shoulder, while the car stopped in the left lane. The young man then got out of his car to try to cross the tracks, “but is surprised and hit by a 38 ton with Romanian license plates“, specifies the RL. The Diekirchois died instantly. An investigation is underway to clarify the circumstances of this tragedy.
Serious pileup on the A31
Also this Saturday, around 6 p.m., a pileup involving five light vehicles took place on the A31 near the Moulins-lès-Metz exit in the Metz-Nancy direction, reports the Républicain Lorrain.
Despite the rapid arrival of around ten emergency vehicles, a man in his fifties died. “Two other victims, in absolute emergency, and four others in relative emergency” had to be hospitalized in two CHR sites in Metz-Thionville.
The accident caused traffic jams which only cleared around 7:30 p.m.
