It is in this approach of learning first aid that the City of Sables-d'Olonne launched the program The Sablais Power a year ago with the aim of “creating the largest community of lifeguards heart disease,” assures Yannick Moreau, mayor of Sables-d’Olonne.

On Wednesday October 30, 20 Sablais citizens received a portable defibrillator from Lifeaz.

Made in and weighing 1.3 kilograms, the defibrillator is designed to be transported all the time “in a backpack for example,” explains Angèle Buchoux, marketing manager at Lifeaz.

Sold at a price of €1,100 to purchase or €30 per month to rent, the defibrillator's “objective is to make a moment filled with anxiety simple”, explains Angèle Buchoux, “there is even a child mode by pressing a button.

Today, the portable defibrillator has already made it possible to save 60 lives including “a little girl of 3 years old and that goes up to a lady of 96 years old”, reveals Angèle Buchoux.

20 citizens who have the power to save lives

Municipal police officers, physical education and sports teachers, volunteers in associations or traders, they are 20 Sablais to have received the defibrillator Clark to support them on a daily basis.

Antoine Cornic, skipper, also received one.

“I studied medicine so it’s a subject that touches me. I wish there were other cities that did the same, I am disappointed with this action carried out by Les Sables. »

The portable defibrillator will accompany Antoine Cornic throughout the Vendée Globe in order to test your resistance to extreme situations such as heat, cold, humidity and shock from shaking in the boat.
