An ultra-right collective is calling for a rally in tribute to Thomas next Saturday, November 16 in Romans-sur-Isère, in Drôme, almost a year after the murder of the 16-year-old teenager during a ball in Crépol, reports Thursday October 31 Bleu Drôme Ardèche. The association of victims of the Crépol ball is calling for the postponement of this gathering while the local left is calling for it to be banned.

According to France Bleu Drôme Ardèche, leaflets calling for a rally have been distributed in recent days in the north of the Drôme department, where the municipalities of Crépol and Romans-sur-Isère are located. These leaflets come from the ultra-right collective “Justice for Ours”. The activists say “committed to the memories of victims of immigration and scum in Romans-sur-Isère”.

Contacted by France Bleu Drôme Ardèche, Emmanuelle, the president of the association of victims of the Crépol ball, who does not wish to reveal her last name, is worried about this gathering: “It generates apprehension and anxiety. We say to ourselves 'what is going to happen?' This moment of contemplation will not be appeased”she laments. She wrote a message on Facebook criticizing the lack of “respect” organizers “for the victims”. She asks to postpone the gathering until November 19, the anniversary of Thomas' death, even if “the manifestation in itself does not [la] Don't mind.”

The Drôme prefecture has not yet communicated, while local left-wing organizations have called for a ban on this demonstration, such as Isabelle Pagani, the leader of the socialist opposition at town hall. from Romans-sur-Isère. “This gathering is not organized to calm the situation, on the contrary, it calls for hatred, and could rekindle tensions with a risk of disturbing public order”she wrote in a letter to the prefect of the department. Contacted by France Bleu Drôme Ardèche, the RN deputy for the north of the department, Thibaut Monnier, did not respond.

Thomas, 16, was stabbed to death on the night of November 18 to 19, 2023 in Crépol, in the north of the Drôme department, after leaving a village ball. At this stage, fourteen people are indicted in this case, but the author of the fatal stabbing has still not been clearly identified.
