Villeneuve-sur-Lot: Urban Talent, a tribute to urban culture and its wonders

Villeneuve-sur-Lot has been accustomed for many years to seeing a series of hip-hop battles come to town which have already enjoyed success given the international level and spectacle offered. To extend this strong moment with a more comprehensive event, still aimed at the city’s young people, Urban’Talent was born last year. Showcasing the talents of Villeneuve youth is the leitmotif of this evening.

Thus, on Saturday June 15, 2024, Villeneuvois are invited to participate in the event at Saint-Cyr Park. This event will be an opportunity to enjoy a very high-level show with the 7th edition of the international hip-hop battle. From 6:45 p.m. to 7 p.m., the evening will open with a parkour demonstration offered by the JLRV association, the Villeneuve-sur-Lot gymnastics club. This demonstration promises stunts, obstacle crossings and jumps, to thrill the thrill-loving public.

Then, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., a musical show highlighting local talents will bring together five young artists: Zydoo, Artcoeur, Amtam, Zylow and Darlan. On stage, they will express themselves in music, in their preferred style, whether it is melancholy, conscious, committed, festive rap or even dancehall ragga. All Villeneuvois, these amateurs train tirelessly in the recording studio of the cultural center to give the best of themselves on the big day.

Very high level battles

Finally, the evening will end with the International Hip-Hop Battle from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. This year, for its 7th edition, the big battle in Villeneuve-sur-Lot brings together eight international teams (Brazil, Reunion Island, Venezuela). , Canary Islands, Japan, Guinea and four corners of France), each composed of two break dancers (floor dancing). They will compete on stage in front of a professional jury made up of three people, including Lyonnais Salim, vice-world breakdance champion, to win the “money prize of €600”. Between each phase, the battle will be punctuated by choreographies from the participants of the cultural center’s municipal hip-hop workshop. Children, aged 6 to 13, will introduce the quarter-finals, followed by the break workshop before the semi-finals, then teenagers and adults before the grand final of the battle. During the show, two graffiti artists from the group Streetarterie will create a live work behind the stage, doing graffiti throughout the event, capped off with a final pyrotechnic effect.
