The students are accused by their management of having participated in an action of the Palestine Committee on September 27, where the slogan “Israel assassinated, Dassault, Carrefour, L’Oréal, BNP-Paribas accomplices” was chanted and red hands were placed, according to the testimony of the director of student life of the Institute of Political Studies (IEP), present on the scene. The latter claims to have heard them chanting songs such as «Long live Intifada» and film the action to broadcast it on the Palestine Committee's social networks. They have been banned from entering their campus since October 8. At the hearing, they denied being the perpetrators.

« The forum took place in the cafeteria, a central point of Sciences Poone of the students testified in court. I was passing by there to go to class since it's on the way and I saw that there was a crowd of people and shouting. I just took a three-second video, just out of curiosity. » “If we were seen, it’s because we weren’t taking part in the action, a added one of the requesting students. The activists all wore keffiyehs and masks. We just passed by. »

Precautionary measure

On October 12, a summary liberty order was examined to determine if the condition “extreme emergency” could be characterized and allow the applicants to resume their education. He was rejected. Friday is the condition of” emergency ” which was debated. In addition to contesting the facts themselves, the real issue of the hearing was to determine whether, in form, legally, there is a sufficiently serious attack on the smooth running of the students' education to suspend the precautionary measure taken by Luis Vassy, the new director of Sciences Po.

The two students' lawyers, Me Taharraoui and Me Lafouge, have initiated this request while awaiting the hearing which must decide, on the merits, the question of the legality of the precautionary measure taken by the management of Sciences Po. “This measure turns out to be in reality punitive since the applicants have already accumulated a significant educational delay,” a pleaded Me Lafouge.

To prevent classes from being missed, the administration offered to follow them via the Zoom application, replies Sciences Po's defense. It is for this reason that the judge rejected the students' appeal. “The courses offered in Zoom are mainly lecture courses. They miss, for example, learning language courses, which require being on site”had objected Me Lafouge, before rejection.
