After 48 hours spent in the forest, Pierre-Albert Spaccesi was found alive and in good health by the gendarmerie helicopter deployed since Monday October 28 morning. Having left to pick mushrooms accompanied by his dog on Saturday morning, around 10:30 a.m., the 49-year-old man had not given any further news even though he had to return home by 12:30 p.m. “I fellhe says, barely out of the helicopter. And when I came to my senses it was raining heavily. I haven't found my way. It was my dog who kept me warm. Without him, the first night in the storm I would have fallen into hypothermia.”

For 48 hours, the man did not eat. “I couldn't even go near the river to drink, he says. I was drinking the raindrops that fell on a rock.”

The search was able to resume this Monday morning after an overnight interruption on Sunday evening. In total, more than 100 people were mobilized. A gendarmerie helicopter and around 40 gendarmes and 50 firefighters accompanied by volunteers set out to find the fifty-year-old.

A story that ends well thanks to a lot of luck and a certain knowledge of the forest.
