On December 14, Eve Gilles will hand over her sash and crown to the new young woman who will be designated Miss France 2025. The former Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais will then be able to devote herself to new projects, after one year of reign. A reign during which she kept a heavy secret. Indeed, Eve Gilles had never revealed until now that she was suffering from a very rare neurological disease (which would affect between one person in 150,000 and one person in 1 million), namely paroxysmal dyskinesia. This is characterized by abnormal involuntary movements that repeat episodically.
Eve Gilles has suffered from it since the age of 8 but it was not until she was 14 that she was diagnosed. The brunette was then able to start treatment, Trétagol, which helped to significantly reduce her attacks. But if everything is better and Eve Gilles seems to have control over the situation, she sometimes faces relapses. In these moments, for several tens of seconds, her arm, the whole body and even her face, especially her eyes, can be affected and she can also have struggling to stand up.
Dany Boon to the rescue of Eve Gilles
“I completely forget about her sometimes, but if I forget about her too often it seems like she's trying to remind me that she's there“, she confided during a long interview for The Parisian. In fact, crises have sometimes arisen at the worst times, such as during the election of Miss Aquitaine or even during the Olympics. Fortunately, for this second event, Eve Gilles was able to count on the great film star Dany Boon to channel her. “In Lille, during the passing of the Olympic flame, Dany Boon held my hand. This gesture is enough to block a crisis or make it unnoticed“, she reported to our colleagues.
Remember that Eve Gilles never wanted to discuss her condition during her Miss year so as not to make it a subject, not considering her illness as truly disabling.
