Lhe London Ferris wheel, nicknamed “London Eye” – or Oeil de Londres in French – will briefly turn upside down on Sunday morning, to mark the end of summer time.

The British capital’s famous Ferris wheel normally rotates clockwise. But for only the second time since its installation in the year 2000, it rotated counterclockwise for about 30 minutes on Sunday, at 8:15 a.m. local time, before opening to the public.

This is to mark the return to winter time in the United Kingdom.

The last time this popular attraction reversed its movement was in 2019, also to mark the time change.

As in Belgium, every year, clocks across the Channel go back one hour on the last Sunday in October, signifying the end of summer time.

Robin Goodchild, chief executive of the London Eye, said the company is “pleased to share a unique moment with everyone as the London Eye turns upside down to mark the end of British Summer Time.

The 32 cabins of the 135 meter high Ferris wheel offer a panoramic view of London since the turn of the millennium.
