The adventure began on Monday August 19, while some were still relaxing on the beach. 17 players aged 17 to 34 from Cuxac, Ouveillan, Saint-Marcel, Narbonne or surrounding villages decided to participate and discovered their new team under the leadership of coaches Audrey and Boris (also president of Cosmo).
“The objective was to create as quickly as possible a close-knit group with young people who came mostly from leisure activities (leisure section of the Sud Minervois Volley Leisure) and from neighboring clubs for some of them. Audrey's mission and the mine is to get the best out of everyone while bringing cohesion and collectiveness as quickly as possible because our opponents will be experienced, talented teams who have known each other for several seasons.” Boris then specified.
Two friendly matches against the Carcassonne Volley team will allow us to work on this collective and the game desired by the coaches, combining speed of execution and precision.
This year's championship brings together 18 teams. The coaches' objective is to be among the best in order to play in Regional 1 next season. Facing big teams like Alès, Montpellier, Perpignan, Sète, Nîmes, Mende… the task proves difficult but the teammates of Cuxan captain Axel Ruiz have what it takes to play spoilsport.
And because the season will be under the sign of discoveries, the first match took place at the end of September in Alès against a solid local team. The Cosmo Volley players immediately showed that they had to be counted on, with a very nice 3/1 victory.
Last Saturday, the boys closed a first block of 4 matches with a clear victory against Sète VBC by 3/0 in Ouveillan.
A positive result with 3 victories in 4 matches and a good 5th place in the championship.
What augurs good things.
A discovery season that we hope will be a success for this team and their staff.
Boys who progress with each outing and a close-knit group who also shares their experience with the young people at the volleyball school by lending a hand from time to time to the educators from U11 to U18.
