Everything comes in time to those who wait. And on the side of Bad Ideaafter a few years of publication, it appears that the plans to bring certain comics to the screens are starting to bear fruit. Released in 2021, in their first year of existence, the horror comics project The Lot is now being adapted for the big screen.
Bad Idea heading to the cinema
It is by the Hollywood Reporter that the news reaches us: comics The Lotpublished three years ago by Bad Ideawere chosen for a film adaptation. The screenwriter has already been found: it isAkela Coopercollaborator of James Wan on horror films (alas, not very terrible) M3GAN et The Nun IIbut also screenwriter of Malignantperhaps one of the director's most interesting (albeit cluttered) films. It is therefore difficult to position yourself on the sole basis of the CV, but let's say that the lady knows the horror register in any case. She will also occupy a position as producer alongside the CEO of Bad Idea, Dinesh Shamdansani.
The story The Lot is written by Marguerite Bennett and illustrated by Renato Guedesand is interested in Aviva Copelandwho is the first black woman to own a studio in Hollywood. But as she puts all of her efforts into getting the abandoned studio back into working order, she discovers that in the past, a director obsessed with realism used real cult members to commit real-life murders for his horror film. Aviva must now face an evil that is awakening in Hollywood, certainly the worst nest of vipers there is.
The Lot #1 took advantage of the renewed attention on the project with this announcement of the start of a film to treat itself to a special reissue with a cover ofEM Carroll (including the A Guest in the Home has just been announced at 404 Graphic). An announcement which comes at a time when Bad Idea is turning more and more towards cinema, in particular with the project Ordained. In France, The Lot is currently unpublished, but it is not foolish to hope that Bliss Editions takes over the project if the adaptation really gets underway.
