Steam train trips soon to return to Limousin

Good news for steam train enthusiasts! From June 16, 2024 and throughout the summer, several movements are planned on the railway tracks of Limousin, reports The Popular of the Center. A trip between Limoges and Eymoutiers (Haute-Vienne) is planned from the first day, as indicated on the website of the Limousin Périgord Territories Railway Conservatory (CFTLP).

The announcement of the takeover was made during the general assembly of the CFTLP, which also indicated that its three locomotives were now listed as Historic Monuments. One of them, the Pacific 231 K 82, is still being restored, specifies the local newspaper. A specialized organization should soon test its boiler, with controlled pressurization.

Multiple festivities

The Conservatory also took the opportunity to look back on the major events which marked the year 2023, such as a ten-day getaway for the Longueville Steam Festival (Seine-et-Marne), our colleagues relay. During this event, two locomotives based in Limoges joined eight of their cousins, all of which were in working order.

The association also participated in the festivities “Soulac 1900”, transporting 250 travelers between Bordeaux (Gironde) and Soulac, with a stop for a party in Chamiers, in Dordogne. The steam locomotives also came out to Le Buisson, as part of the centenary of the prehistory museum, in Les Eyzies (Dordogne), and to participate in the European Heritage Days, at Limoges-Bénédictins station, note The Popular of the Center.

All planned trips are detailed on the CFTLP website.
