Three SNCF security agents will be tried by the criminal court for violence against a young couple committed in February 2022, theAFP, Saturday October 26, 2024, from a source close to the matter.

An intervention in the middle of a pandemic

The three agents had intervened in an RER A train, which crosses Île-de- from east to west, to fine a young woman for not wearing a mask, then compulsory on public transport due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The young woman and her companion, placed in police custody after their forced exit from the train, told the police that she had a mask which simply fell under her nose, according to elements of the referral order of the judge of instruction consulted by theAFP.

Judging the fine to be unfair, the young woman refused to seize it and the officers then asked her to get off the train at Achères-Ville station (), before using force to force her.

Several days of total incapacity for work

According to her, they have “dragged on the ground, down the stairs” of the train before throwing it on the railing of the station platform. This violence resulted in eight days of total incapacity for work (ITT). His companion also claimed to have been violently expelled, receiving injuries which caused him 15 days of ITT.

“We are satisfied with this referral of the SUGE (SNCF General Security) agents to the criminal court,” declared the couple's lawyer, Me Arié Alimi, requested by theAFP. “Free violence has become an accepted method of managing security, including by transport organizations such as the SNCF or the RATP,” he said.

The SNCF, contacted by theAFP, indicated not to comment.
