This year, the route invites you to stroll and explore along the 80 kilometers of roads exceptionally closed to motorized vehicle traffic, between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. And as is the tradition established for several years now, numerous free festive events will brighten up the different routes offered this year. In 2024, the main activities will be concentrated in three villages built around emblematic taverns of the region: In Port Maillard in La Daguenière, with the Border Wine tavern; In Port Saint-Maur in La Ménitré, around the La Dérive tavern; And in Saint-Martin-de-la-Place, with the Toue cabanée. Activities around the diversity of cycling practices will also be to be discovered during this day dedicated to cycling in all its forms, at Ardoisières de Trélazé, at Ménitré, on the island of Gennes, at Saint-Martin-de-la -Place and on the nautical base of Saint-Hilaire. Other festive events will also be offered by the municipalities, EPCI and tourist offices along the route, including an entertainment village in Saint-Rémy-la-Varenne and the presentation of a new work from the Artistic Thread landscape of the Community of Communes Loire Layon Aubance, the Tous Toiles Dehors Festival in Les Rosiers-sur-Loire, or even original activities at the Bohalle.

Three loops to discover during this day

Loire and Slate Walking Route – 23km (46km round trip): From the center of Angers, set off to discover the Ardoisières de Trélazé and its mining past. Then join La Daguenière and its entertainment village.

The Wind in the Stern Loop – 22km: A small loop accessible to everyone, on which you can enjoy the many activities organized in the villages of Ménitré and Saint-Rémy-la-Varenne, as well as on the island of Gennes. Don’t miss the pretty village of Thoureil, witness to the old boating activity, and the panoramic view of the Loire to the north.

The Saumuroise Loop – 34km: Discover a rich heritage on the south bank of the Loire, with the charming villages of Gennes and Chênehutte-Trèves-Cunault. On the north shore, activities await you at the port of Saint-Martin-de-la-Place as well as in Rosiers-sur-Loire. Your journey ends in Saumur.

The most courageous will of course be able to combine these routes and complete the 80km!
