A tourist plane leaves the runway in Gironde, a septuagenarian between life and death

A 78-year-old man who was piloting a Robin DR-400 plane missed his landing at the La Teste-de-Buch aerodrome (Gironde) on Wednesday May 29, 2024, indicates “- Bordeaux”. He was seriously injured and rushed to a hospital by emergency services deployed on site.

A major rescue operation was launched on Wednesday May 29, 2024, at the Villemarie aerodrome in La Teste-de-Buch (Gironde) after an accident. A tourist plane left the runway while landing in the middle of the afternoon at the airport serving the Arcachon basin (Gironde). The single-engine pilot, aged 78, was seriously injured, reports Bordeaux News .

Sole occupant of the plane

The reasons which led the Robin DR-400 to leave the tarmac could not be determined immediately after the incident. The victim was considered in a state of absolute emergency by the emergency services responding on site and was evacuated to the La Teste-de-Buch health center. South West specifies that the septuagenarian was the only occupant of the plane. The emergency response required the temporary closure of the airfield.
