Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines – Celebrate local food in a friendly moment

The Local Food Festival takes place on Friday, May 31, at the Ferme du Manet, in Montigny-le-Bretonneux. Since 2014, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food has encouraged the creation of Territorial Food Projects (PAT) to “relocalize agriculture and food in the territories by supporting in particular the installation of farmers, short circuits or local products in the canteens.” These PATs bring together several partners such as communities, associations, farmers or businesses, who work together to develop local agriculture and facilitate access to quality food for everyone in their territory.

Since 2017, Terre et Cité has coordinated the first PAT created in Île-de-France. Thus, this Local Food Festival is organized by Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines in partnership with Terre et Cité, as part of the PAT de la Plaine aux plateaux, with the support of the afTerres student association.

Variety, pop and rock concert in the evening from 8:30 p.m.

Numerous events, meetings and workshops for all ages are on the program, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Village of local actors (Graines d’avenir farm school, market gardener looking for labor, AMAP, local associations, etc.), educational farm, demonstrations of geese driving by a shepherd dog, giant wooden games, educational games, quizzes with prizes… ecological carousel (children can make parents cycle), demonstrations and advice on composting, vegetable workshop, introduction to beekeeping and candle making, butter making, fruit pressing, making wool objects, or even a smoothie bike.

For all those who have either a vegetable garden, a henhouse, or both, the agglomeration of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines has decided to offer a bale of straw to interested people at the end of the event, obviously in the limit of available stocks. So don’t hesitate any longer, this Local Food Festival offers the opportunity to “get together, have a drink or eat with local products, and to introduce young and old to agricultural and food topics”, summarizes the agglomeration of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines on its website.

This event will also allow you to enjoy music from the pop-up bar and several food trucks, for a varied, sustainable and local culinary experience. The day will conclude with a concert by the Smart music group (variety, pop, rock, etc.), which will be given from 8:30 p.m. and should end around 10:30 p.m. Entrance to the entire event is free. The complete program of this Local Food Festival can be found on saint-quentin-en-yvelines.fr.
