News: Who is Lula Strega?

Lula Strega: A very poetic little drag with a rather calm and reserved character but meticulous about her art and about what I do. I like peace and quiet but also party from time to time.

What are your inspirations?

Lula Strega: It’s a mixture of lots of things that I draw from paintings, music, cinema… I draw a parallel between the world of witches and queer people. These are two figures who have been ostracized, despised, reclassified. I like to combine the two to make something powerful.

What are your strengths for Drag Race?

Lula Strega: Looks above all! I’m a visual drag who likes to design my looks right down to the tips of my nails, including the movement, the wig… But I don’t take myself seriously. I also like lightness, adding a touch of humor even if at first glance it all seems serious.

What makes you say that you are the “next queen of France” as you say in your presentation video?

Lula Strega: I’m 1m64, I need something that gives me height (laughs)! Well, more seriously, I have the impression of offering something that people haven’t seen yet, of bringing sweetness and poetry.

After Drag Race, what is your wildest dream?

Lula Strega: To go on very big stages, to develop my art and to set up a cabaret!

When did you start doing drag? And how did you discover what you call “your medicine”?

Lula Strega: I started three years ago after discovering drag on the Internet while watching RuPaul’s Drag Race on YouTube (the original American version of Drag Race, Editor’s note). When I arrived in Paris, I was in the depths of depression following the confinement. It was during this same period that I discovered drag shows. I needed a new artistic medium to express myself and that’s how drag came into my life.
