It is to Gaëtan Evrard, starred chef at his restaurant L’Évidence, in Montbazon, that we owe this first in Touraine. The region’s chefs, awarded a Michelin star or “bib”, came to collect their famous red plaque during an official ceremony organized on Monday, May 27, in the park of the Château de Candé in Monts. Around thirty heads of the departments of Indre-et-Loire, Loir-et-Cher, Eure-et-Loir, Loiret and Sarthe met in this property in the department.

A great range of chefs gathered in Monts

The opportunity for these chefs to meet again, two months after the official Michelin Guide ceremony which took place in Tours this year.

“Before, we had to collect our plates individually, I found that a shame. I launched this initiative so that it would be organized in the region by associating the bibs with the stars”, indicates Gaëtan Evrard. “We did it for the first time last year with Christophe Hay at the Fleur de Loire restaurant in Blois, and this year we were able to benefit from the Château de Candé, with the help of Sylvie Giner, the mayor of Montbazon and departmental councilor of the canton of Monts. »

“It also allows us to put faces to chefs”

A good opportunity for all these chefs to exchange their experiences and for some to evoke their joy at having been newly distinguished. “It also allows us to put faces to chefs, chefs’ spouses, maîtres d’hôtel, sommeliers. We all know each other by reputation, but not necessarily personally”noted Gaëtan Evrard.

The Montbazon chef was surrounded by neighboring starred colleagues, including Jérôme Roy from L’oppidum in Fondettes, Bastien Gillet from the Pom’Poire inn in Azay-le-Rideau, Fabrice Dallais from La Promenade in Petit-Pressigny and Clément Dumont d’Arbore et Sens in Loches, to concoct a meal for all the guests of the official partners of Michelin, Métro and Charles Heidsieck champagnes.

The ceremony continued with a visit to the park and the Candé castle.
