“I called my partner and told her ‘look, it’s a sick thing !' » Rémy Gerain will remember his first drone flight with the common cranes above Portets, in Gironde.
A silent drone for an incredible flight
Wednesday October 23, 2024, from his terrace in the town of Le Tourne, this enthusiast of drones managed to get close to a flight of cranes and was able to film them up close. “I first tried with a drone, but it was too noisy. I was only able to take photos from afar,” explains the video taker to Republican South-Gironde.
A little later, he launched his second drone quieterand can get close to birds. Moment of grace during which he succeeded in filming these migratory birds.
I just approached them from behind and was able to follow them for a little while in a completely crazy whirlwind.
“At that time, they were looking for a current of warm air to regain altitude and there was the sunset in the background. It was magnificent,” enthuses the southern Girondin.
Cranes observe the drone
Due to a lack of batteries, he was unable to follow them any longer towards “their natural dormitory at Captieux”.
However, during his time alongside these highly migratory animals, he was spotted by a member of the crew…for no reaction: “We see on the video that one turns around and sees the drone. But she doesn't care. »
An amateur drone pilot, Remy Gerain hopes to one day make a career out of these shots.
But for now, he's waiting for a new passageabove his home to repeat the experience and, once again, be amazed.
As Rémy Gerain's drone did not capture sound, the sounds of the cranes were added to the video. They were recorded during an observation in a ground reserve.
