The Canadian Institute of Quebec (ICQ) has been a cultural pillar of the national capital since 1848. We manage and coordinate the network of the Library of Quebec, the Maison de laliterature as well as the designation of Quebec, a UNESCO city of literature. Every year, we host numerous events, including the Québec literary festival in all letters.

  • The job is carried out in theaters and other places of shows and activities. It is often carried out in the evening and at the end of the week and at staggered times. The work is carried out in a team, in close collaboration with various contacts and the intervention times vary depending on the production.
  • The technical assistant director has a role that requires him or her to offer technical support and ensure the operation of technical and audiovisual equipment for carrying out library activities.
  • The technical assistant director plays a central role in the production of artistic projects and other activities and events.

Main functions and activities

  • In collaboration with the technical director, assess feasibility, develop a technical response by evaluating the specific needs of production and propose adjustments.
  • Apply regulations and risk prevention in the implementation of the project.
  • Organize work by considering the needs of production and the means made available to it.
  • Ensure that the assembly and dismantling of rooms goes smoothly on time.
  • Participate in the design of technical projects.
  • Ensure technical operations during performances.
  • Ensure the integrity of equipment, carry out preventive maintenance and ensure the proper functioning of devices.
  • Supervise, if necessary, additional technical labor.

Specific functions

  • Participate in production meetings.
  • Learn about production schedules.
  • Analyze and understand the proposed technical quotes, suggest adjustments if necessary.
  • Carry out the assembly and dismantling of rooms, in particular by participating in the installation of stands and platforms.
  • Install and adjust technical equipment, respecting established schedules.
  • Operate the self-propelled lifting platform.
  • Program and operate equipment during rehearsals and performances in the broadcast room and other locations where activities take place.
  • Collaborate in the design of basic procedures for the use of equipment.
  • Train and/or support library staff in the use of equipment.
  • Ensure general lighting of the exhibitions displayed in the different spaces of the Gabrielle-Roy library.
  • Ensure equipment is repaired after use.
  • Participate in the maintenance of technical equipment and broadcast locations.

The person we are looking for:

  • Holds a college diploma or equivalent
  • Has a good knowledge of management and stage techniques
  • Demonstrates autonomy, leadership, good organizational skills
