The Dignois lost on Sunday May 26 against Saint-Saturnin-lès-Avignon (38-13), in the round of 16 of Regional 1.

It’s the end of a great adventure for the Dignois Rugby Club. The players faced the Saint-Saturnin-lès-Avignon team this Sunday, May 26 in the round of 16 of the French championship in Regional 1.

It had been almost 20 years since the lower Alpine club had reached such a level. Unfortunately, the Dignois lost (38-13) against the favorite on the Apt lawn.

“It’s always sad to lose, but it was really a great team. We gave everything in recent years to succeed in reaching this level,” confides Paul Boussier, fly half within the team.

“We can go out with our heads held high”

Questioned at the microphone of BFM DICI, Jérémy Teyssier, the president of Rugby Club Dignois explains that “there was disappointment, but the step was high. We were facing a semi-professional team. We failed, but it’s like that, it’s sport, we can all go out with our heads held high because it’s been an incredible season this year.”

Players and supporters will especially remember a successful series of 10 consecutive victories this season. Rugby Club Dignois also ends its season in 2nd place in the Southern League championship.
