Solidaires Côte-d’Or cancels the demonstration planned for this evening in front of the Edito restaurant in Dijon

The Solidaires Côte-d’Or union announces the temporary suspension of the mobilization planned for today in front of the Edito restaurant in Dijon, located at 2 place Darcy. However, according to the union, the fight for respect for workers’ rights continues with determination.

Press release of May 24, 2024:

EDITORIAL DIJON: suspension of the mobilization of the day but not of the fight!

For several days, our union organization has been supporting an employee who was threatened with dismissal. To support him, we wanted to meet the operations director of the Edito Dijon establishment and wrote him a multitude of emails to offer him a way out in this matter. Obviously, no response from this director who even allowed himself the luxury of canceling a meeting with our union organization 10 minutes before the meeting time.

However, we are not surprised by the process as we discovered dysfunctions in this establishment and difficulties in mastering the procedures (particularly in labor law). This refusal of dialogue by the establishment led to a union mobilization in front of the establishment on Friday May 17, 2024, forcing the establishment to close its terrace and see its daily figure drop significantly. The terrace is closed, like social dialogue in the company.

A new mobilization was planned for today but the situation has evolved, and for the moment, we consider it inappropriate to continue the gathering this evening. Above all, we choose to support the employee in a legal process so that they obtain respect for their rights! The fight will therefore continue in court!

Also, we would like to indicate that since January 2024, our union organization has received nearly 30 requests per month from employees suffering at work, mistreated or simply dismissed. There is a very sharp increase in requests which is a signal far from being trivial and which above all demonstrates that Unemployment Insurance is more essential than ever! Finally, the situation of Edito Dijon, like others, demonstrates the absolute necessity of massively recruiting labor inspectors to enforce regulations and the framework of procedures!

Today, we are in a situation where trade union organizations find themselves carrying out an initial filter before intervention by the labor inspectorate. This is not normal and, above all, it reinforces the possibility for bad employers to act their liking.

Faced with the bosses, let’s bring our solidarity to life and let’s stand together!
