Jérôme Harvey takes care of building inspections. Winner of the OSEntreprendre challenge, Mathiassois is concerned about the energy consumption of structures.

Jérôme Harvey is a building inspector. The Mathiassois has been established in his town for almost a year. His recently awarded OSEntreprendre challenge prize is attributable, according to him, to his ability to diversify into different areas relating to construction.

Ecological thinking

“My goal is to improve energy consumption in homes,” he explains. In our area, we see a lot of old buildings, even heritage properties. The building is built piece by piece and/or made of bricks. It is very solid, but much less efficient in terms of energy than modern constructions. »

A specialty that he does not hesitate to share. Soon, it will offer training to several real estate brokers in the sector to help them better understand the possibilities for consumers.

“They are less familiar with government programs to improve homes,” continues the businessman. This allows a reduction to be considered in the cost of heating. In a real estate market that is less accessible to new homes, this allows owners to still improve their living environment. »

Among his other activities, Jérôme Harvey was able to find partners to develop the skills of his company, Jerhome Inspections. “I work with laboratories to take samples from houses to find possible traces of asbestos or mold, for example. » The inspector believes that this preventive work is essential in the near future. “The condition of housing will be a big issue soon. This will depend on its maintenance and the investments that have been made in it. »
