On May 31, the second edition of the IGP Wine Festival will be held at the Bayssan estate in Béziers.

IGP (protected geographical indication) winegrowers from the Hérault department will be in the spotlight during the 2e edition of the IGP Wine Festival. This designation is a label which is “sign of origin and quality in France and Europe, these wines attached to a territory thus benefit from international protection”, indicates the IGP Hérault federation, which is the organizer of the event. Since 2009, it has replaced the term “Vin de Pays”.

The festivities will begin on May 31 at 6 p.m. at the Bayssan estate in Béziers with musical entertainment by the Banda Mescladis then at 9 p.m., the Paul Selmer orchestra will take the stage. It will also be possible to eat and taste on site.

If entry is free, you will have to pay 8 euros to obtain a collector’s glass and enjoy 3 tastings, the following are 2 euros. When making this purchase, registration for a raffle will be automatic. To be won: a tasting with a sommelier from all the IGPs in the department.

Thousands of people expected

During this second edition, no less than 40 winegrowers will be present to highlight their products, and the 8 IGP of Hérault. The event supported by the Hérault Department and organized by the “Hérault’s du Vin”, the new identity of the territory’s IGP federation, is expecting several thousand people.

After the great success of the first edition, Sylvie Olivet, general director of the federation, even hopes to cross the barrier of 3,000 visitors. “The territory’s IGPs are in high demand and are therefore growing enormously”, she comments. For Jean-Michel Sagnier, president of the federation, the Wine Festival is a way of“appreciate the quality” of the products presented.

This evening, marked by festivities, conviviality and sharing, will also present the launch of the concept “Daisy”a traveling caravan which will travel the roads of Hérault with the aim of highlighting local winegrowers, their activities and their products through videos.

Friday May 31, from 6 p.m. to midnight, entry to the Bayssan estate in Béziers is free.
