“We don’t want this public school reorganization project wanted by the government.” The so-called shock of knowledge reform, announced on December 5, 2023 by Gabriel Attal, then Minister of National Education, continues to push teachers and parents into the streets.

This will be the case again on Saturday May 25, 2024 almost everywhere in France. In Morbihan, two gatherings are planned: at the Orientis at 10:30 a.m. in Lorient and in front of the Vannes City Hall, at the same time. Teaching teams and parents are in tune. With them, the FCPE and all the trade union organizations (CGT, FO, FSU, Sgen-CFDT, Education, Unsa). Also in the ranks of the demonstrators are the Human Rights League and the Education League.

The wind of anger against this reform establishing level groups, more recently called needs groups, does not seem to be abating. “This reform does not pass, at all levels, all strata of education. Not an establishment that does not demonstrate, in its own way, its disapproval, it should not apply,” union representatives and the parents’ federation denounce in unison.

“This law should not apply”

When she came to Lorient last April, Nicole Béloubet, the Minister of National Education, no longer spoke of groups of levels, but of groups of needs: “The minister plays with words, blurs the lines but the substance remains the same. This semantic shift brings even more confusion to the minds of teachers, students and their parents. »

If this reform were to be applied at the start of the school year in September 2024, how, then, can we imagine its implementation with peace of mind? “ This Saturday mobilization and the movements that may emerge before summer aim to push the government to withdraw this harmful, outdated, anxiety-provoking law, contrary to schooling for all. If it were to be applied, it would be done with pain. »
