A delegation of Saudi parliamentarians was received this Wednesday at the National Assembly of Senegal by President Amadou Mame DIOP who reaffirmed on this occasion the solidity of the ties uniting Senegal and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

“Your country plays a key role in the progress of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) and the Ummah in general. It is also a major partner of Senegal, supporting many of its development projects in various areas. This therefore means that you come from a very great, friendly country which means a lot to us.”

The President of the Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Majlis al-Shura (the Saudi parliament), Dr Aymen Ben SALEH FADEL, for his part expressed his joy at meeting with his delegation in a sister country which matters a lot in the eyes of the kingdom Saudi Arabia, which considers it one of its most important and faithful partners in Africa. “We came to discuss with you in order to see the ways and means of strengthening this cooperation between our two countries,” indicated Dr. SALEH FADEL.

At the end of the meeting with the President of the National Assembly, the delegation of the Majlis al-Shura and the Senegal-Saudi Arabia Friendship Group, began a working session intended to explore in more depth the axes of parliamentary cooperation.

During its stay, the Saudi delegation will also meet Senegalese authorities including the Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs.
