39 migrants were rescued by a French Navy ship while they were on a boat off the coast of Berck.

39 people were rescued off the coast of Berck (Pas-de-Calais) this Tuesday, May 21 while they were on board a boat, indicated the maritime prefecture of the Channel and the North Sea in a press release .

The shipwrecked rescued and deposited in Boulogne-sur-Mer

At the start of the morning, the operational surveillance and rescue center (Cross) was alerted to the difficulties encountered by the boat. Very quickly, the Flamant patrol boat of the French Navy was hired to relocate the boat and the 39 migrants on board.

People in difficulty are taken care of by the authorities. Some, however, refuse the help offered by the authorities. The prefect indicates that “in this configuration, taking into account the risks incurred by migrants in the event of restrictive actions to force them to embark on State rescue means (falling overboard, thermal shock, various trauma), the choice is made to let them continue their journey under appropriate supervision.”

The castaways taken into care were dropped off at the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer. They were welcomed by the rescue services and the border police.
