The Gonet Geneva Open welcomes 3,500 spectators every day. To receive them in the best conditions, 150 volunteers are hard at work on the site of the Eaux-vives tennis club. Among them, Béatrice Garcia Häcker whom we followed during the day on Tuesday.

It’s 11 a.m. at the Eaux-Vives tennis club. The first meetings of the day will begin. This morning, Béatrice takes care of welcoming visitors to station 8, located at the top of the south stand.

“It’s really nice, the setting is idyllic, you can hear the birds, it’s pretty” exclaims Béatrice, a volunteer since 2023.

This tennis enthusiast has not missed a single edition since 2015 and the creation of the tournament. However, it was only last year that she joined the family of volunteers.

“I like meeting people. These are people that I wouldn’t necessarily meet in another context” continues Béatrice.

An unprecedented craze

This year, like Béatrice, there are 150 volunteers roaming the aisles of the Eaux-Vives tennis club. All positions for the week were filled within 48 hours. An unprecedented craze.

“Wealth is contact with others. We have young students up to seniors who are almost 80 years old,” explains Jean-Louis Dominguez, volunteer manager at the Gonet Geneva Open.
