FLOOD OF THE SENEGAL RIVER | THE SONINKÉ MUSLIM COMMUNITY OF DAKAR LAUNCHES A FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN FOR THE DISASTERS

The Soninké Muslim community of Dakar is mobilizing to help their brothers and sisters affected by the floods caused by the rising waters of the Senegal River. This Friday, at the Islamic Center for the Call to the Quran and the Sunnah, commonly known as the Soninké mosque, a fundraising campaign was officially launched.

This initiative aims to bring together funds and resources to support affected families in regions impacted by the river flood. In addition to material aid, it is also an approach marked by solidarity and compassion towards those who suffer from the consequences of the floods.

The rising waters of the Senegal River have devastated several localities, causing significant losses in material goods and leaving many families in a precarious situation. Faced with this alarming situation, the Soninké community of Dakar, faithful to its values of fraternity, is organizing itself to provide concrete and immediate help to the victims.

During this launch, members of the mosque expressed their commitment to supporting the victims, recalling that solidarity between believers is an essential component of the Muslim faith. Sermons and calls for generosity were also made to encourage community participation in this humanitarian campaign.

According to officials, the goal is to raise funds that will provide food, clothing, temporary shelter, and medical care to populations affected by the disaster. Several local charitable structures have already shown their support for this initiative, promising to contribute to this surge of solidarity.
