The completion rate of the project to upgrade the old fruit and vegetable wholesale market in the city of Tangier, with a view to reconverting it into a regional exhibition and arts space, has reached 80%, indicated the commune of Tangier.

The Municipality specified, in an information note, that the work is progressing at a good pace, indicating that a budget of 63 million dirhams (MDH) has been allocated to this project.

This project is the subject of a partnership agreement which provides for the mobilization of this envelope, thanks to the contribution of the signatories, namely the Council of the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region (30 MDH), the Municipality of Tangier ( 30 MDH) and the Agency for the Promotion and Development of the North (3 MDH), under the supervision of the Wilaya of the region.

It aims to create a local socio-cultural dynamic, support the social, architectural and cultural development of the city of Strait, improve the quality of infrastructure for hosting major events, give new impetus to artistic and cultural development and establish a space for exhibition and promotion of local products from the region’s prefectures and provinces.

This structure, which extends over an area of ​​more than 2 hectares, will house a space dedicated to performing arts workshops, an orientation platform, a circus, an exhibition space, a conference room and several administrative outbuildings. and services.

It is part of the democratization of equitable access to art and culture among the inhabitants of Tangier, through the creation of open proximity spaces in the different districts of the city, which will contribute to the artistic and cultural development, particularly among young people, and will create socio-economic dynamics by encouraging creative industries.
