Calmont d’Olt Castle will be open exceptionally from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday May 25 and Sunday May 26 to host the festival of ancestral crafts, organized jointly with the Artésens association.

A dozen ancestral professions will be promoted for this first edition. The public will be able to discover these professions through demonstrations of blacksmithing, glass spinning, wood and leather working, bookbinding, farriery, basketry and many others. Some workshops will offer initiations for children and adults, a great opportunity to see, do and learn!

A festive event

Tavern and catering with tables set up on the archery field on Saturday and Sunday lunchtime will make this event a festive and warm moment to share with family and friends!

A craft market

And why not find a Mother’s Day gift or simply to treat yourself, by discovering the creations of our local artisans.

At 10 a.m., doors open and demonstrations and initiations begin; at 2:30 p.m., guided tour on the theme of ancestral professions; at 5 p.m.: firing of the trebuchet. Sunday program:

During these two days, musical strolls with the Beluga and entertainment around the medieval instrumentarium will enrich these meetings between the public and artisans in this emblematic place, the Calmont d’Olt castle!

A free shuttle

Primarily intended for elderly people, a minibus will be made available to provide return trips from the town center (Market Square) to the very entrance of the castle!

Departures from the market square at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m.

Returns from the castle at 12:15 p.m., 2:15 p.m., 4:15 p.m. and 6 p.m.

So, children, grandchildren, parents, grandmas and grandpas are all invited to this beautiful celebration!

And why not celebrate Mother’s Day at the castle in an original way!

For those who would like to get involved in the final preparations, they will be welcome on Friday at the end of the day and Saturday morning from 8 a.m.
