The slow moving storms which broke out in the Somme department on Tuesday May 21, 2024, caused significant damage, and notably caused spectacular mudslides.

The villages of Morlancourt and Étinehem-Méricourt particularly affected

As noted on the social network X by the specialized Météo Express account, one of these mudslides was observed in the small town of Morlancourt.

Another video of this episode was posted by the La Météo de la Somme account.

The local account also reports a mudslide in the neighboring village of Étinehem-Méricourt.

For his part, France Blue indicates that the village of Sailly-Laurette was also affected. “It rained between about 8 p.m. and 8:45 p.m., it was torrential, there’s no other word for it. There was more than a meter of water, the water rushing down, tearing up everything in its path. a resident of the town told local radio. France Info adds that bad weather also hit the municipalities of Saint-en-Amienois and Ham.

Oise also concerned

The Météo Nord Parisien account also shared images of similar mudslides in the neighboring department of Oise on X.

The weekly The Picardy Man And The Picard Courier explain that these bad weather particularly affected the villages of Saint-Maur, Riffin, Bonneil-les-Eaux, Paillart, Breteuil and Songeons.
