Dakar, Oct 18 (APS) – The National Association of the Sports Press of Senegal (ANPS) published, Friday, the list of nominees for the title of best Senegalese athletes for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 sports seasons in five categories.
In total, five trophies will be awarded to the best athletes. These are the Abdourahmane Ndiaye Falang prize to reward the best wrestlers (without striking and wrestling with striking), the Ibrahima Coulibaly prize for the best local footballer, the Jules François Bocandé prize to reward the best footballer playing abroad and the Amadou Dia Bâ prize for the title of best Senegalese sportsman.
The vote for the designation of these trophies will be carried out by the sports editorial staff.
They “have until Tuesday October 22, 2024 at 6 p.m. to send their vote”, indicates the ANPS press release, specifying that the counting will take place on Thursday October 24 in the premises of the Senegalese Press Agency, from 10am.
The awards will be presented during a gala evening, scheduled for December 7, 2024, at 2STV.
The ANPS also plans to celebrate the athletes, managers and sports federations who distinguished themselves during the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 sports seasons.
Here is the list of nominees for both seasons:
Ibrahima Coulibaly Trophy
2022-2023 seasons: Abdoulie Kassama from Casa Sports (12 goals, vice-champion of Senegal), Cheikh Ibra Diouf from Guédiawaye FC (10 goals, 3rd in the Senegal championship), Jean-Louis Barthélémy Diouf from Génération Foot (8 goals, champion of Senegal), Pape Mandial Mboup of Jaraaf (winner of the Senegal Cup), Lamine Camara of Génération Foot (winner of the African Nations Football Championship), winner and best player of the CAN U20, champion of Senegal) .
Season 2023-2024: Cheikh Lo Ndoye goalkeeper of Jaraaf (14 clean sheets, vice-champion of Senegal), Souleymane Cissé of Jaraaf (7 goals, vice-champion of Senegal), Abdoulie Kassama of Guédiawaye FC (7 goals, 4th in the Senegal championship), Pape Souleymane Ndione of Sonacos (7 goals, 6th in the Senegal championship, Joseph Layouss Samb of Teungueth FC (4 goals, Senegal champion).
Jules François Bocandé Trophy
2022-2023 season: Sadio Mané (Bayern) with 12 goals, German champion and winner of the Super Cup, Boulaye Dia (Salernitana): 16 goals, Iliman Ndiaye (Sheffield): 14 goals, Nicolas Jackson (Villarreal): 13 goals , Ismaïla Sarr (Watford): 10 goals.
Season 2023-2024: Kalidou Koulibaly (Al-Hilal): winner of the Saudi Super Cup, the championship and the King’s Cup, Sadio Mane (Al Nassr): 9 goals, vice-champion of Saudi Arabia, Nicolas Jackson (Chelsea): 17 goals, Mbaye Diagne (Al Qadsiah FC): top scorer (26 goals) and Saudi Arabian D2 champion, Chérif Ndiaye (Red Star Belgrade): 16 goals, champion and winner of the Serbian Cup.
Amadou Dia Bâ Trophy
Season 2022-2023: Mbagnick Ndiaye (Judo): 2023 African champion in the over 100 kg category in Casablanca, Morocco, Bocar Diop (Taekwondo): 2023 African vice-champion in the under 58 kg category in Abidjan, Coast d’Ivoire, qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, Anta Sambou (Olympic wrestling): bronze medalist in the under 76 kg category at the 2023 African Beach Games in the over 70 kg category and bronze medalist at the African Beach Championships wrestling 2023 in Hammamet, Tunisia, Libasse Ndiaye (Judo): 2023 African vice-champion in the under 100 kg light heavyweight Abderahmane Diao (Judo): 2023 African vice-champion in the under 90 kg weight AVERAGE.
2023-2024 season: Cheikh Tidiane Diouf (athletics): 2024 African champion over 400 meters in Douala, Cameroon, semi-finalist at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games and with a time of 44’94, he beats the Senegal record held by Amadou Gakou from Mexico 1968 (45’01), Louis François Mendy (athletics): 2024 African champion in the 110 meter hurdles in Douala, gold medalist at the 2024 African Games in Accra, Ghana, semi-finalist at the Games Paris 2024 Olympics.
There is also Saly Sarr (athletics): 2024 African triple jump champion in Douala, she participated in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, Oumy Diop (swimming): gold medalist in 100 meters butterfly, medalist of silver in 50 meter butterfly and bronze medalist in 100 meter freestyle and 500 meter backstroke at the African Championships in Luanda, Angola. She participated in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Yves Bourhis (Canoe kayak): African champion in Abuja, finalist at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Abdourahmane Ndiaye Falang Trophy
2022-2023 season (non-strike wrestling) ; Computer: individual gold medalist at Tolac in Niamey, team silver medalist, twice gold medalist in Tunisia in Beach Wrestling, bronze medalist at the international Beach Wrestling tournament in Singapore, Siny Sembéne: double champion of Senegal as a team and individually at the flag of the Head of State in Saint-Louis, gold medalist in Tunisia in Beach Wrestling, 4th at the international Beach Wrestling tournament in Singapore.
There is also, Ngor Niakh: individual champion of Senegal, African champion in Tunisia in Beach Wrestling, 3e at the international Beach Wrestling tournament in Singapore, winner of several trophies, Ibou Ndiaye: double champion of Senegal in team with Dakar and in individual open, winner of several trophies, Ngagne: series of 9 successive trophies in 9 major galas.
Season 2023-2024: General Malika: vice-champion of Senegal with Fatick, 3rd individually at the flag of the Head of State, African champion in Beach Wrestling in Dakar, eight finals won, 1 lost, Ngagne Sène: 17 finals won, 4 lost, Siny Sembéne: champion of Senegal by team with Dakar and individually, vice-champion of Africa in Beach Wrestling, Mbaye Diop: champion of Senegal by team with Dakar and individually, champion of Africa in Beach Wrestling , ”Bross el Bandit”: ten finals won, 3 lost.
Season 2022-2023 (fight with strike): Zarco, two victories against Baye Mandione and Ada Fass, Boy Niang 2: victory over Balla Gaye 2, Tapha Tine: victory over Bombardier Sa Thiès: victory over Reug-Reug, Alboury: victories over Joe Technique and Ndiambane 2
