What happened to Ille-sur-Têt, in the Pyrénées-Orientales last weekend? The information was revealed by our colleagues from the Independent : a man was found dead in his gardenthis Sunday, May 19, “presenting several traces of blows on the body”, confirms to News Perpignan the public prosecutor Jean-David Cavaillé.

62-year-old man found dead in his home

The macabre discovery was made by a friend of the victim, details the Perpignan prosecutor’s office. The latter would have found the sixty-year-old in the shed on his land, at the entrance to the town of Ille-sur-Têt.

This man of Portuguese origin was lying on the ground and was “covered in blood”, reveals the regional daily. For his part, the public prosecutor does not yet specify the nature of the abuse, pending the autopsy, which will be carried out this week, but he confirms the multiple “traces of blows”.

Murder investigation opened

Jean-David Cavaillé specifies that the victim was not known to the courts. So what happened to this seemingly uneventful man? It is still too early to determine, especially since no perpetrator has been identified to date, concludes the prosecution.

However, the criminal trail is not in doubt. And a murder investigation was immediately opened. The latter was entrusted to the Pyrénées-Orientales gendarmerie.
