The Minister of Infrastructure and Land and Air Transport El Malick Ndiaye, and his counterpart from the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mohamed Aly Ould Sidi Mohamed, accompanied by their main collaborators, paid a joint visit to the construction works of the Rosso Bridge . This, on the instructions of the two heads of state following the visit to Mauritania of the President of the Republic Bassirou Diomaye Faye. According to the press release, “this visit was an opportunity for the ministers to note the unsatisfactory level of progress of the project, to listen to the stakeholders, to identify the constraints and difficulties and to instruct the Unit of Project Management to take appropriate measures to bring the Poly Changda Company, holder of the work, to mobilize in accordance with the contractual provisions to finalize the work no later than July 2026.

The two ministers “urged the administration, the Project Management Unit and the control mission to put in place a mechanism for close monitoring of the action plan that the Company will provide within two weeks in order to resolve the enormous delay observed in the implementation of the project. The ministers finally “reaffirmed the interest and importance of the project for the two brotherly countries, with a common destiny, in view of its integrative character and the significant socio-economic impacts expected”. They end by “engaging the project teams to mobilize more for diligent and flawless implementation of the work”.
